Arches

Dry Stone arches are high in demand and require precision sorting of stone to enable stable completion.

Again, you can use any type of stone; however the stone for arches need to be slightly tapered. Stones should be selected and matched so they look well balanced on both sides of the central stone, or keystone, in the arch.

An arch will attempt to transfer forces sideways as the weight of the stone above pushed downwards. It is gravely important that a sufficiently solid section of wall already be built on each side of the gap over which the arch is to built, to withstand the sideways pressure.

When an arch is complete it with-stand the test of time. There is no stronger effect during a wedding ceremony than an arch as your backdrop.
